Code of Conduct

Columbia University strives to ensure responsibility and accountability. We believe that every person at every level within our organization has an obligation to perform his or her duties with the highest degree of honesty and integrity. Only when this occurs can we ensure that we are meeting our obligations, observing our values and protecting our reputation.

In support of these principles, the University has established an Administrative Code of Conduct.  The Code has been developed to promote an environment of respect that is central to the success of the University and the individuals who work here.  In addition, the Code contains a Statement of Ethical Conduct.  As this Statement provides, the University expects all Officers of Instruction, Officers of Research and Officers of Administration, support staff and students to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Protection of Minors

Columbia University is committed to promoting a safe environment for minors who participate in our programs and activities.  All members of the University community who interact with, supervise, chaperone, or otherwise oversee minors in programs or activities at the University or sponsored by the University must report immediately if they have reasonable cause to suspect abuse or maltreatment of individuals under the age of 18.

Any member of the Columbia University community may report a concern if they suspect that a child has been abused or maltreated.
