Columbia University's Lead Based Paint (LBP) Management Guidelines ensure that work practices applied during LBP removal results in safe and healthy environment for all staff, faculty, students and visitors by preventing unsafe exposure to lead. These guidelines must be observed during all phases of work impacting LBP within academic, administrative, research and residence halls. The project manager and lead abatement contractor must ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state and city regulations, a minimum impact on the environment and the community. The main goal is to protect individuals from exposure to lead based paint hazards through the application of administrative and engineering controls.

EH&S provides technical support, training and information, consultation and periodic audits of lead projects to ensure safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
