Glen Markowitz, MD, "Who is getting autopsied? What can the Autopsy Service do for you? And what is happening to the kidneys?"

Dr. Markowitz gave a detailed overview of the CUIMC Autopsy team's work. He addressed the three questions: who received an autopsy, what the autopsy team can provide and some details about his personal research, in the kidney. He presented an analysis of the autopsied patients and pointed out the importance of a fast autopsy within the first 12 hours. He addressed the benefits of the work of the autopsy team on patient treatment, general knowledge about the disease and input to the Columbia Biobank. In the end he demonstrated the effect of the disease by presenting histological material from the autopsies and concluded with the findings of no significant results on the kidney, caused by the small number of samples in the still early stage of the research
