Dr. Makino describes the three stages of viral RNA replication, translation and protein transcription with possible pitfalls which may lead to erroneous modifications. The process of viral RNA stabilization is mostly unknown still. The process of nonsense-mediated decay is implemented in the cell to detect and eliminate misp-replicated RNA. It was found that Covid suppresses this mechanism via the viral N protein.
