NIH Updates:

  • UPDATE 3/25/2025: NIH issued the following alert on its webpage, Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support:

"To further support a successful transition to the Common Forms, NIH is postponing the May 25, 2025 implementation for all applications and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs). NIH will issue future Guide Notices outlining the new effective date and additional implementation details as they are finalized.

NIH applicants and recipients must continue to use the current NIH Biosketch and Other Support format pages for applications, Just-in-Time (JIT) and RPPRs."

See below for training materials to assist you with SciENcv setup.

For all updates on NIH's implementation of SciENcv for the Common Forms, see Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support.

8/1/2024 - NSF Using SciENcv FAQs

NSF mandates the use of SciENcv for the preparation of Biographical Sketches and Current and Pending (Other) Support information.

SciENcv has been updated to include new Biographical Sketches and Current and Pending (Other) Support forms for NSF proposals submitted or due on or after May 20, 2024.

  • These new forms include a new certification on Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Programs (MFTRPs).
  • NSF removed the page limitation for biographical sketches submitted or due on or after May 20, 2024.
  • Synergistic Activities have been removed from the NSF biographical sketch, and are now required as a separate attachment for each senior/key person, limited to one page with up to five distinct examples. SciENcv users can still copy and paste Synergistic Activities previously included in biographical sketches from SciENcv to include in the required separate document. Each senior/key person should have one page of Synergistic Activities, combined into one PDF document, uploaded in the Senior/Key Personnel Documents section of Research.gov. See PAPPG 24-1, Synergistic Activities, for more information.
  • For more information on the newly updated SciENcv to accommodate NSF’s Biographical Sketches and Current and Pending (Other) Support forms for proposals submitted or due on or after May 20, 2024, see Slides and Video, NSF Implementation of the Common Forms for the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support, and SciENcv, 4/25/2024.
