Issuing Subawards to Columbia

If your institution is planning to propose Columbia University or the Columbia University Irving Medical Center as a subrecipient  in a grant or contract proposal, or planning to issue a subaward or subcontract, this site will provide you with key information.

If you need to reach someone in Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA):

Columbia University (Morningside/Main campus): [email protected]

Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC): [email protected]

We will provide you with the following during the proposal stage:

  • A Letter of Intent (LOI), signed by Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA)
  • Statement of Work (SOW);
  • Line Item Budget;
  • Budget Justification; and
  • Other items (such as Biosketches) per your request.

A good example of a LOI is this FDP Sample Letter of Intent (LOI) (rev. May 2022). SPA will sign this, or other similar form (such as our Inbound Subaward Face Page located here), which contains project-specific information.

See Letter of Intent FAQ on the FDP Sample LOI.

Columbia University is a participating organization of the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) Expanded Clearinghouse.

If your organization also participates in the FDP Expanded Clearinghouse, see the Participation Agreement.

If you do not currently participate in this Clearinghouse, we ask that you use Columbia's public online profiles to obtain the entity information that you need rather than send us a separate financial questionnaire/subrecipient commitment form. However, we are happy to provide information that is project-specific to the subaward.

Columbia has two profiles in the FDP Expanded Clearinghouse:

See FDP Expanded Clearinghouse Subcommittee for more information about this project.
