Carryover of unexpended funds from one budget period to the next may or may not require prior approval from the sponsor. Check the Notice of Award for this information. If the sponsor requires prior approval, a formal letter may be necessary, including detailed budget of the remaining balance with a justification how the remaining fund be spent in the next budget period.
