Fact-checking and misinformation around Covid-19

Smaranda Muresan, Research Scientist at the Data Science Institute and Adjunct Associate Professor of Computer Science, Department of Computer Science

Develop an end-to-end fact-checking system for the detection of misinformation around Covid-19. The system includes three components: document retrieval, candidate evidence extraction and veracity prediction (supported, refuted, not-enough-information). This system will be an extension of our fact-extraction system that won the first place in the FEVER 2.0 (Fact Extraction and Verification) Shared task. A paper describing the system will appear at ACL 2020.
