FaceShieldOne

Yevgeniy Yesilevskiy, Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering

FaceShieldOne is a plastic face shield that serves as personal protective equipment (PPE) for hospital workers. The shield is cut out of a flat sheet of plastic and then folded into shape. It has built-in extender features that keep the face shield at a proper distance. It was developed in the Columbia Makerspace in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. As the design is one piece, it is quick to manufacture and assemble. It has been accepted and adopted by the New York Presbyterian hospital chain, who have placed an order with an outside manufacturer for 2 million units of the design.
