Sophie Thuault-Restituito

Sophie Thuault-Restituito, PhD, is the Chief of Staff and Executive Director for Special Projects, reporting directly to the Executive Vice President for Research, Jeannette Wing. In these roles, Sophie works closely with Jeannette and university leadership to help set and execute on strategic directions for research at Columbia.  To help Columbia’s profile, she helps build and nurture Columbia’s relations with federal funding agencies, foundations, and institutional partners.  Prior to this role, Sophie was Chief of Staff of the Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics, under Simon Tavare’s leadership and help him launch the Institute.  Prior to IICD, Sophie spent two years as Executive Director at the Center for Topology of Cancer Evolution and Heterogeneity at CUIMC.  Prior to Columbia, she was at NYU Langone Health for 13 years, first as a researcher in neuroscience and biochemistry, and later as operations manager/director for research facilities.  Sophie received her doctorate in pharmacy and her PhD in neuroscience from the University of Montpellier, France, and completed a postdoc at the University of College London.
