Foundation Funding Opportunities

Research funding provided by foundations support various science and engineering research activities, including: basic, translational and clinical or applied research;  career development; and, postdoctoral fellowships.  In addition, many foundation programs recognize outstanding contributions or carry significant prestige. Sources of non-governmental funding and links to separate foundation directories are provided to help researchers identify potential opportunities.

The Foundation Directory

The Foundation Directory is a database of 80,000 grantors and 500,000 awards.

We encourage the use of PIVOT for all non-federal funding searches.

However, the Foundation Directory can also provide information about the foundations and corporations that provide grants. The Directory offers basic information on sponsors in the United States, including private foundations, community foundations, public charities and corporate giving programs.
