IRB Data Tracking and Management

Brenda L. Ruotolo; Executive Director of the Human Research Protection Office / IRBs, Office of the Executive Vice President for Research

The IRB is monitoring the status of more than 6000 studies in light of the COVID-19 research pause. Waves of surveys are sent to assess and monitor study status (paused/ongoing). The role of Project 1 volunteers are to: 1) advise the IRB on the creation of central databases, 2) create and manage surveys and their responses, and 3) help the IRB to clean, manage, and maintain the databases. Ultimately, the aim of Project 1 is to optimize the workflow (as much as possible) and reduce the burden on IRB personnel.
